AIGINA ISLAND

Aegina is one of the Saronic bay islands that has many Neoclassic buildings of the 19th century, among them being the first building of the Greek government, the orphanage, which was founded by the first governor of Greece, Ioannis Kapodistrias, as well as homes of the leaders of the Greek revolution.

There are many archaeological sites in Aegina. The most famous one is the Temple of Athina Aphaea, which dates back to the 6th century BC. You can also visit the ancient town, the archaic tombs, the Byzantine church of Agios Theodoros etc.

Religious tourism is very developed in the island of Aegina, especially thanks to the Agios Nektarios and the Panagia Chrysoleontissa monasteries.

Beaches
The beaches around Aegina are all very beautiful. Besides the beach in Klima, you can discover other beaches in Agia Marina, Marathona, Souvala, Vagia, Kipseli, Kavouropetra and Leonti. In Perdika you can take small boats and swim in the organized beach of Moni, which is the island next to Perdika.

Cuisine
The town of Aegina features local and international gourmet cuisine. In the fishing villages you can also enjoy fresh fish and exceptional seafood.
